Norwich v Chelsea live streaming today for free. Norwich have recorded five important wins at Carrow Road this season, including beating both Manchester United, and Arsenal 1-0. However, Chelsea have recently refound the form that saw them being courted as early title favourites, and Norwich will have to be at the top of their game to give their fans three points as a late Christmas present. Chris Hughton’s side, meanwhile, have enjoyed an encouraging first half of the season which sees them tenth on the Premier League table after 18 games. But a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday ended their 11-game undefeated run in the Premier League, with their last loss before that result ironically coming at the hands of Chelsea who beat them 4-1 at Stamford Bridge in October. Grant Holt will make a welcome return for the home side, who are likely to field a strong team in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Chelsea will need to mark him closely, as he scored at Stamford Bridge.
Norwich is 3-2-1 overall in their last six Premiership matches. At home Norwich is 5-0-1 (five on the trot), with a goal average of 2.67 goals per game. In the selected interval Norwich has managed three clean sheets and scored every time.Chelsea is 2-2-2 in the Premiership in their last six, and 3-1-2 on the road. In this interval Chelsea’s goal average was 3.67. Five out of these six away games went over 2.5. In the selected interval Chelsea scored every time (more than once half the time), but they did not manage any clean sheets.
Grant Holt is back in training after overcoming a hamstring injury and is set for a return to the Norwich side. But City will be without defender Steven Whittaker, who suffered a recurrence of a hip injury when the Canaries’ 10-match unbeaten run in the Premier League was ended at West Brom on Saturday. Russell Martin is in line to replace Whittaker at the back while Holt is expected to return up front in place of Steve Morison. Ryan Bennett is also back in training and manager Chris Hughton is positive about his chances of featuring against either Chelsea or Manchester City on Dec 29.
Mikel returns for Chelsea after being suspended for the 8-0 thrashing of Aston Villa. Terry and Romeu are still out. Ruddy and Surman are both still unavailable for Norwich. Last year this fixture ended 0-0 in a game Chelsea dominated. The reverse fixture this season ended with a deserved 4-1 Chelsea win. I do not see any reason this game should be any different. Chelsea is flying high at the moment. Rafael Benitez is a top coach in charge of a fantastic squad. He has gotten belief into the squad, and Torres is again firing on all cylinders and scoring for fun. Norwich has been solid as of late, but Chelsea in this form is a test for any team in Europe.Talismanic striker Grant Holt (hamstring) missed Norwich’s defeat against West Brom, but manager Chris Hughton hopes to have him available for Wednesday’s game.Steven Whittaker (thigh) was withdrawn before the hour mark against the Baggies, so Russell Martin is likely to fill in at right-back.Norwich are also without Andrew Surman (knee) and John Ruddy (thigh), with Mark Bunn continuing in goal in the latter’s absence. Ryan Bennett (knee) and Harry Kane (ankle) are both doubtful.Rafa Benitez’s squad is largely injury-free, though he will likely reshuffle his starting XI to combat a busy festive programme.Liverpool-bound striker Daniel Sturridge (hamstring) is a doubt, but John Obi Mikel has returned from a three-match suspension though may be benched in favour of the impressive David Luiz.John Terry and Oriol Romeu (both knee) remain sidelined, while Ryan Betrand picked up a knock against Leeds in the Capital One Cup and is therefore a doubt for the Boxing Day clash.
Chris Hughton says Norwich could not have picked a worse time to host Chelsea after their thrashing of Aston Villa.
Chelsea stuffed Villa 8-0 on Sunday in the Premier League’s second-biggest romp ever.
Norwich have the unenviable task of facing Rafa Benitez’s goal machine at Carrow Road on Boxing Day, having lost 4-1 at Stamford Bridge earlier in October.
Now they have to face Chelsea again having just had their record 10-game unbeaten League run ended by West Brom.
Boss Hughton admitted: “At the moment they are on very much a high.
“You would always rather play a team that is not on the back of as good a win as Chelsea had.
“I thought they were excellent from start to finish. They have great attacking options.
“But they are qualities we knew about and we experienced it a couple of months ago at their place.
“We are very much aware, if we didn’t already know from Sunday’s result, the quality they have in the forward areas.
“I think the players they have brought in have given them a little bit more offensively.
“On the evidence of what most people have seen on Sunday, most won’t expect us to get a result.
Chelsea’s scintillating display against Aston Villa will see them head into the match as deserved favourites, and while an upset is not out of the question anything less than all three points will still leave a sour taste in Chelsea supporter’s mouths, and heap the pressure back on manager Rafael Benitez. Chelsea have been in tremendous goal-scoring, as of late, scoring 16 goals in their last 3 matches in England.
